Hey!

I actually feel bad posting here, I can usually find things out myself pretty quick, this is really bugging me though...

I use my task manager a lot to end processes and frozen programs. But now when I go to ctrl+alt+delete and click task manager, nothing comes up! So I thought this work work for sure, I opened Run and put in taskmgr.exe, but nope, I get a message saying:

Posted Image

Being used by another program... what?

So now I have no idea what to use, I can't think of anything that would be using it, virus scans are clean, and I've cleared all of the useless things from startup that might be using it. Nope, still not there...

So, are there any other programs that will act as a task manager that I could download? I couldn't find any.

Or does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Try Process Explorer by Sysinternals.com It's a free app, and I prefer it to Task Manager anyway. Also, it should be able to tell you what's hogging TaskMgr.exe.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

You could try a repair of the Task Manager.

NOTE: This is a registry edit. If you're not familiar with working in the registry, DO NOT ATTEMPT.
Improper changes to the registry could render your computer inoperable.
Remember to backup the registry before making any changes.
Instructions, on how to do that, can be found here:
Backing up the Registry
