Hi all, I have a small picture partially covering my desktop icons. I used Vista Shortcut Manager to remove the arrow on the shortcuts, but I didn't expect to get something in it's place. It's a small square with a couple of coloured dots in the lower left corner. Anyone know how I can clear it off please? Thanks.

Save it to your desktop.Uninstall your current vga driver by pressing windows key and pause at the same time then select device manager then find your display driver (or vga tell me what is listed) then reboot windows will try to automatically install the driver you uninstalled dont let windows do so.Then go to the driver you saved to your desktop and run the .exe file Note you will have to run as admin cause you are running vista.Edit: To run as admin you will have to right click the driver you saved to your desktop. To uninstall a driver via device manager right click and select uninstall

It's running fine. Just annoyed at these little patches on the icons.

Would that be Display adapter? Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family.

This is a little scary for me.

You're very kind to stay with me, but I really am mind-boggled right now. I'll say goodnight and hope to sort this later. I appreciate you trying to help.

Hi mrsb..

To undo the change go to this tutorial on How to Remove or Change the Shortcut Arrow and Name in Vista and scroll down to the section 'To Restore the Shortcut Arrow'.

You could also try restoring your computer to an earlier date..
