Upgrading my computer hp elite m9250 from installed 4 gig ram (4x1) to 8 gig ram (4x2)

Current set up is

memory banks
blue 1 2gb
black 1
blue 2 2gb
black 2

and everything works. If i put one in black 1 it will start but not power up to windows. Same results with black 1 and 2 together. If I put in just black 2 it beeps, which led me to the order.

Ram used: http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Compaq-memory/Pavilion+Elite/Pavilion+Elite+m9250f-upgrades.html

Any ideas would be helpful. Simple upgrade wont take

Well...you have differing RAM modules for one thing...what does your manual say that proper insertion order should be for dual-channel effect?

That, IMO, is what should govern...what goes where.

I would put the new RAM in by itself, in the appropriate order specified in your manual...then I'd worry about adding. The motherboard RAM modules are probably color-coded...for dual-channel operation.

If you aren't running 64-bit O/S...the RAM increase will be useless.

Bank Order is listed in post. And all ram sticks are identical and recommended replacement memory for my hp eliete, ordered through crucial.. (4) 2gb 240 pin ddr2.

if I insert all 4 I get nothing wont load. If i put one in black 1 it will start but not power up to windows. Same results with black 1 and 2 together. If I put in just black 2 it beeps, which led me to the afore mentioned order. blue 1 and blue 2 together will run correctly with the new memory init at 4gb ram but will not let me add more, when the system is upgradeable to 8, and caused me no issues on my sons pc.

Yes the 9250 is a quad 64bit system, comes default with (4) 1gb sticks, expandable to (4) 2gb sticks.
