Why does the cursor sometimes continue moving across the screen when my mouse is remains still?

Never mind. I found several suggestions on other forums.

I found the cause of this problem but I haven't yet discovered a solution. On certain surfaces the cursor moves on the screen while the mouse is still. It appears to be the reflective properties of the surface. I originally thought that it may be caused by the proximity of the mouse to my laptop, however, when I slide a sheet of paper under the mouse on one of these problem surfaces, the problem goes away. Can anyone provide some additional insight in to this situation?

What kind of mouse are you using? Does it have a red light? What type of surface are you using it on?
