I'm at a total loss as this makes no sense to me: I was on ebay this morning, nothing out of the ordinary happened. I try this pm and can't get on it for about 30 mn. I ask someone in my area, they can access it no problem... I tried everything I know: I have IE8 on Vista, I tried cleaning my caches, I tried with Firefox, I tried later, I rebooted...

I can access every other site I could think of including Norton and other safety sites, I can access Youtube, Google, Hulu and anything else... I'm stomped.
The error msg I get (after many minutes of trying) is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" after which if I press More Info it says The Domain Name Server may be down.

Ebay? Down for over 8 hours????

Hi Verob,

Apologies for the delayed reply. Did you ever get this problem resolved?

Could be your ISP provider. Here's an interesting link below that may help if you have a cable or broadband connection.

Can't Access a Specific Website?

I had this trouble once before but I just power cycled my router and modem which fixed it asap. I'm on satelite connection.

Hope this helps.

Donna :)

Thanks Donna! I got back on ebay ... not sure how though ... but I pretty much did everything from java updates to rebooting and I don't know which part worked (I'm at the point where IO think my problem was DNS related) but the main thing is IT WORKED!

Thanks again for the help.

You're welcome Verob. Usually if only one site is not accessible and you get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" after which if I press More Info it says The Domain Name Server may be down it may be related to your router/modem.

If it ever happens again just unplug either/or both router/modem and allow time to clear out the cache (usually just a few minutes and the sites should be accessible again.

Glad you got that sorted and thanks for letting us know.

Till next time...have a great day.

Donna :)
