windows xp hung up at resuming windows

hi, i have a dell dimension 3100 and when i went to turn it on today it kept getting hung up on the resuming windows screen. i dont know why or reason for this. If anyone could give me help with this problem it would be awesome. thanks in advance!

Are you turning it after it was sleeping or just turning it on?? Also have you tried safe mode??
