I got a little mike and plugged it into the front of my computer. Tried it out with the test in "sounds and audio devices" but it does not register.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX620 with onboard sound which was awful so I use a sound card. However, I checked the setup and the onboard audio is turned on. Don't know where else to look.

It is a mini microphone by micro innovations MM760M.

Video or Voice calls are best when checking certain microphone using Skype or Yahoo messenger.
