This is my first post on this list.

Prevx continues to flag the following as malware: mfc45.dll in C:\windows\system32\. Can anyone say if this is a false positive?

You cannot tell is a given filename...is legit or not...by merely looking at it.

File size, location, and general description of such files...as posted on the Web...also provide key clues.
