Opened Windows Defender, and clicked button, Check For Updates; then updates were downloaded, and a few seconds later, Windows Defender showed, "Service has stopped; A problem caused this program's service to stop; to start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support on how to start the service manually."

I already restarted the computer, but after taking the updates, and seeing a message that the computer is operating normally, the Service has Stopped" message appeared again. So far, I have definitions version 1.115.462.0 for Windows Defender, and have not yet checked Help and Support, since I seem to be able to open/turn on Windows Defender, yet the Service has Stopped message later appears.

Windows Defender is a tremendous waste of resources and a useless application. I urge you to manually set the service to disabled (START - RUN - services.msc)
