To make a long story short, I installed a program that works with images and then uninstalled it because it doesn't do the thing I needed it to. However, in a Winrar-style fashion, thumbnails of the images it would work with are replaced with the program's icon. This effect has stayed even though I uninstalled it. It's just an annoyance, but is there a way that I can get the image thumbnails back?

Not sure if this is what you mean but have you tried below?

How to show thumbnail images in Windows Photo Gallery:

  • Go to "Start"
  • "Control Panel"
  • "Folder Options"
  • "Select "View"" tab"

UNCHECK "Always show icon, never thumbnails (see photo below)

Posted Image

  • Then "Apply" and "OK."
