acer aspire laptop

ive an acer aspire laptop (old i know) but its stopped booting. the power light comes on and then goes off.Ive tried f8,f10 and all the safe boots i know to no avail.Any help thanks

Just a hunch to start but take out the battery and then plug the laptop in then try to boot it. Also could you supply the model number.

oops sorry forgot model,i had just done a 14 hour shift .
its acer aspire 5630
ok tried what you said it didnt work.I put the battery back in and it looks like its going to start but dies after 1/2 sec or so.

humor me ,when pulling the battery ,remove power cord also ,then hold down the power button for about 30-40 seconds , then connect the power and battery and try turning it on
