I am new to this forum. Seem to have gotten a winfix2006 problem with my computer - I have so far followed all of the steps on the "preparation guide for use before posting a hijack this log" killed a lot of stuff...but not the darn winfixer - installed mcaffee virusscan and personal firewall - not sure about going forward with the hijack this log (lots of scary warnings about not using hikack this if you are not an experienced computer person) so I am looking for what to do next...

Can I use my CWS shredder - it wants updates - should i trust them???

Hello redhead71 and welcome to BC.

not sure about going forward with the hijack this log (lots of scary warnings about not using hikack this if you are not an experienced computer person) so I am looking for what to do next...

If you follow the instructions in the Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log you will be alright. That will create a log but no changes are made to your computer, its simply a report. If changes are needed one of our Hijack Team Members will guide you through the use of HJT with very specific instructions.

Very much so. The programs own updater works well.

Hello leurgy - interesting name....

Thanks for the quick answer - at the moment trying to download the vundofix.exe - taking FOREVER - I ran across another post in the forums on getting rid of winfix....

it says something in there about having MSEvents - what does that mean and how do I know if I am having them?????

Notice you are from Collingwood Ontario - where is that located???

Collingwood is on the south shore of Georgian Bay, a part of Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes in Canada. The Great Lakes are the largest body of fresh water in the world and contain 70% more nutrients if you belong to a weight loss clinic recognized by American Express. Hahaha, just kidding. It does have the longest freshwater beach in the world, but thats not important now.

I'm happy to see that Papakid has picked up your other thread. He's one of the best Hijack guys around so you bonused out on that one.

I'm going to close this thread as you seem to be active elsewhere with this problem. Good Luck.
