I have not installed any software or hardware since a long time.

Hi -
Maybe it is time to try to istall a bit of updated software now.
Your ntoskrnl.exe BSOD is about the most common variety, and the first questions relate to your Video card / your Internet card , and have you checked System/Device Manager.

If you do want to check for updated / faulty drivers, please do not click on Allow Microsoft to look for Updates.
Microsoft will generally say that all is OK and they cannot find a better driver for your ......... Etc.
Find out the Make and Version of the cards and post them here so we can link you to the Genuine sites.

Also Please list the Make and Model of your computer, and I like to know all Antivirus and Antimalware programs installed -

Thank You -

Hi noknojon
Here is the info you requested
Make and Model: I assembled it myself so there is no brand/model
Video card: NVDIA GE Force GTX 570
Internet card: Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Have you checked System/Device Manager: Not sure what should I check there?
Antivir: Avira AVG Free Edition
Antimalware: I dont think I have anything installed for this
Memory: 12GB
CPU: Intel 960 Quadcore

Another thing I noticed was that after a while, all the icons on the desktop went missing and the Ctrl+Atl+Del didnt work either (said something about security and logon screen could not be launched etc).

Please let me know if you need any more info. Thanks a lot for the help.

Hi again -
Try these steps first, also look in Device Manager for any other Yellow !! exclaimation marks.

Internet card: Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Driver update site is listed as unsafe for me to access
, so I have deleted a shortcut. This seems to be an ongoing problem with them - -

This controller was designed for earlier models, so if a driver update is not enough, you may need to upgrade the card.......
General Details - -
Designed Operating systems: Windows 98/2000/XP/2003/NT (Basically designed for XP not Win 7)
A lot of people had problems with that network card (I checked back 5 years). Apart from replacing it, this was the only solution (on XP).

Go to device manager
Go to Network adapter
Select Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller - double click on it.
Go to Power management Tab.
Remove Allow The computer to turn off this device to save power. This setting is causing the problem!

Thanks -

I did what you suggested (changing power settings ) but it did not help. i am unable to find yukon drivers. I am going to take my PC to the local shop since I have 1yr parts & labor warranty from them. Hopefully they will be able to fix it but if not, I will be back hunting for solutions right here :-))
BTW,this happened all of a sudden when I was downloading an MP3 yesterday. Is this usual scenario where PC just starts showing BSOD without any changes to the system?

Hi -
No this is not usual. There is a fault with a part, I suspect, and I would ask them to review the Internet card.
The make / model listed is for older (earlier) computers and it is not listed for Windows 7, that I could find.

Since you have a 12 month warranty, Please use that, rather than making adjustments yourself -

Thank You -
