Running vista 32 bit on a Toshiba laptop. Using Firefox any google search link redirects me to fake ad pages. Whatever it is also causes my windows updates to fail and stops any antivirus/malware program from running. I've tried to do a system restore, but the restore option is the spot where the problem began.

Should I suspect a program called Iobit Quick Care? It was installed right before this all started. Thank you for any help.

Yes, I would uninstall Quick Care. Then go to safe mode (usually by tapping the F8 button on startup) and run your antivirus and malware programs in safe mode. Two good free malware programs are
superantispyware: http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html
malwarebytes: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756

Uninstalled Quick Care. In safe mode, trying to run the malware programs-no dice. They will not start up. Tried it in safe mode from a thumb drive.
