Hi, new 'older citizen' member of this forum. A 'safe' transfer of information from a 'friend' also brought in sweetim.com and windows live messenger both of which I can do without. Sweetim hijacked my Firefox home page - and refuses to give it up even when the program is 'uninstalled'. W.l.m. - I cannot see how to get rid of the icon at the bottom of my computer or stop it from appearing when I first open up. Any help would be welcome.

Hi Ray,

Would it be possible for you to download Malwarebytes from My link, once you have downloaded this program you would need to install it and once that is complete, run a full scan and then report back on here if the scan found anything. If it does find something someone should be able to help you if this is the case.

Thanks Grey Fox, sorry it has taken several days to get back to the topic. I downloaded the anti malware as recommended, ran the program - no problems showed. Tried several other anti malware programs - no luck with those either. I have managed to clear Windows Live Messenger and its icons, although I can no longer recall how I got there!!! Having cleared all the bits of Sweetim that I could find in Control Panel I was still left with Sweetim controlling my Browser - Firefox.
Opening Firefox Options I unticked Sweetim - but was unable to remove the Sweetim listing. I opened up cookies and found 4 Sweetim boxes, only one of which was in alphabetical order, I unticked 2 but the third refused to accept a tick for removal. Additionally it had a sub folder box hidden at the end of the cookies list, this also refused to be delisted. After a period of nashing of teeth, I decided to remove all cookies, not something that I was keen to do. But I removed all cookies - and guess what! The last two sweetim boxes ******remained behind. I hate the idea that this unwanted, unasked for piece of electronic junk should be still inside my system. Who owns it? who benefits from it? HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT? Ray.
