Hi jamesw,

Can you be a bit more descriptive.

What happens when you try to make a short cut? Are you right clicking the file and choosing Send to the desktop. Are the short cuts that you do make disappearing from the desktop?

Not sure I'm following you, don't worry that could be just me :)

Right click on desktop
mouseover NEW
left click on shortcut
hourglass pops up - then disappears
nothing happens

If I do that on my computer I get the same response as you, because I have not selected anything to make a short cut to.

What are you trying to make a short cut to? What file or program? For instance if you open the start menu and right click on lets say "Internet Explorer" from the window that opens you can choose Send to then choose desktop, that makes a short cut for Internet explorer on the desktop. Can you do that?

A shortcut is a link to an item (such as a file, folder, or program) on your computer. You can create shortcuts and then place them in a convenient location, such as on the desktop or in the Favorites section of the navigation pane (the left pane), so that you can easily access the item that the shortcut links to.

Sorry I've never used that function or way before, I'll try and find something on this for you to help resolve it.

To add a shortcut to anything on the Web...just go to the webpage/site...click File/Send/Shortcut To Desktop.
