I'm having some trouble with Java and windows media player.

First I'll tell you my issue with Java.

I need java for a lot of things such as chat sites and most games, I go to www.java.com to download it and use windows online installation. I save it under the correct name and open the file where it gives me two options, to open it or cancel the setup. If I hit open, nothing happens...I don't know if it's an error or what. I have tried re-doing this many times to no success.

For windows media player...

I have downloaded windows media player, (I think it's version 10) but it wont play, it will just sit at "Locating media" And the screen where it is supposed to be viewing is the page I was previously viewing. I thought maybe an earlier version would work, but I can't seem to find one.

Hi, hadoku

The Java Question ...

I think "save to disc" exists. Use the windows offline installation. It can be installed with less potential variables acting upon it. I've found that any previous installations should be uninstalled, too.

The WMP Question ...

Older version does exist:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...ies/player.aspx

It brings to mind "what version windows do you use?"
I presume winXP ... you posted here ... but what version/update level? SP1, SP2, current updates successful?
