Hi, everyone! Well, I have had a long night. I have spent the past two hours on the phone with HP/Compaq in an attempt to get help, which they can help me, but with a fee that I just cannot pay right now. I am in school and my online class requires that I upgrade my internet, but I am unable to. Here is my problem:

I have wireless, but everytime I try to connect via ethernet cable, nothing happens. For example: When I got our wireless, I was unable to physically connect my computer to the wireless modem. My husband's laptop had no problem doing so, so I know it is not the ethernet cord, like I had previously thought. I can browse the web, but when it comes to downloading, say, things off of I-tunes or attempt to connect to any sort of messenger, I get a pop up asking me to disable any firewalls or fix proxies or connect to the internet. I am connected via wireless, but...

So the problem I'm having is that I can't do anything really on here besides browse, and that is causing a problem. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I have never used my ethernet port before this, as I have no clue as to use it in the first place. Frontier (my wireless provider) is convinced that it has to be my port. Please, any suggestions or questions are welcomed :)

My computer is a CQ60-615DX if that is any help to anyone.

Thanks!!!
