The world's busiest crossing spans the Hudson River between New Jersey and New York City. It opened on this date in 1931 and a second lower level was built in 1962.

I heard about that on National Public Radio.
Heard it needed a complete rebuild to accomodate the traffic now.
But the traffic nightmare preludes doing the project.

Catch 22

Yes,they are now considering a new Tunnel. There is too much traffic.
As an example.. Yankees Stadium is about a mile or 2 off the bridge. About 10 miles from my home. On a good day it's a 20- 25 min ride. It usually takes an hour or more to get there. LOL

Now they've also jacked the Toll to $12...
The Lower level which was added in the 50's ,I think,is colloquially known as Martha.

That's frikkin' INSANITY. I was born in Brooklyn, I'll always consider myself a "New Yawka" but it's stuff like $12 bridge tolls that make me glad I moved out.

Glad I live in a small town!
I just gassed up today. 10 bucks for half a tank. That will last me about 3-4 weeks here.

I hate traffic anymore!
Might have something to do with getting old.

Nah!
