Cpu and disk hang

having random cpu and hard drive hangs, and when playing music, the music hangs too. i wonder why?

PS i stopped the monitoring on the resource monitor first so there is a gap between task manager and resource monitor

have you defragment your hard drive lately.

1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

2) Open task manager to the Process tab. Sort on the cpu column with highest usage at the top. Next time the system freezes, make not of which process is spiking.
