Moved computer from point A to point B. When I shut down computer, had several updates to install. When they were finished unpluged everything them moved computer. I hooked everything back up and now the desktop, web page, everything is in the middle 1/3 of monitor I rebooted and system just hanged. I rebboted in safe mode got it to load completely but everthing is in the middle 1/3 of monitor I tried settings of monitor no change. Tried different monitor no change restored to a diffenent date no change tried settings in display settings, no change.
Any ideas other than throw this thing away (9years old)?
Thanks in advance

I'd guess...failing video chip/card.

I would go to Device Manager, uninstall the current video drivers...reboot and then reinstall the correct video drivers for that system.

Try adjusting the screen resolution in the Display Properties:

Move the slider one notch, then press the "Apply" button. If the screen goes completely dark, just wait 10 seconds or so and it will automatically revert to the old setting. Repeat until you find the right setting or you run out of settings to try.
