A few months ago I had to reinstall Windows XP on my computer, but before it re-installed, it backed up my files into a folder on my C drive called "My Backup". After the reinstallation, I took the files that I needed from the "My Backup" folder and the rest of the files are files that I no longer need. But when I tried to delete the "My Backup" folder, I keep getting an error message saying, "Cannot delete My Backup: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full and that the file is not currently in use".

Does anyone know how I can delete this folder? It's taking up a lot of space on my hard drive and I would like to get that space back.

OK, I followed the instructions and it did not work. I tried it about 4 or 5 different times. It's so annoying why I can't just delete files and be done. I'm the only one who uses this computer so I don't need all the extra precautions about whether or not I want to delete a file or not. Also, I have other files on my computer that I'm trying to delete and it keeps giving me the same "Cannot delete..." message. <_<

Boot to safe mode and try deleting from there. If that doesn't work, use MoveOnBoot: http://emcosoftware.com/move-on-boot

That maybe true, but at times permissions and ACL's can become corrupted causing issues like this.
