I have a video switch box that takes only RCA in, the computer has only VGA and dvi out. I need the vga for the primary monitor, and the dvi needs to go to a video switch box so I can switch from a video camera to computer signal seamlessly while recording a dvd. Can I use a dvi to hmmi cable then a hdmi coupler and then a hdmi to rca cable to go in the back of my video switch box. In short I need to go from dvi to rca.

Hmmmm... Why not just record first then transfer? Seems a little more of a convenient way of doing things nowadays.

You can't switch from a video camera to computer signal seamlessly with a switchbox while recording a dvd, they are using different sync and it will glitch. And you can't just use a cable to go from HDMI/DVI to composite RCA as one is digital and the other is analog. You can get a converter but one of any quality is expensive.

As said above, record each separately onto the computer, edit together and burn to DVD.

We have a video camera going filming live action, once in a while we need to switch to computer images and graphics, then back to live video that is what the switch box is for. We have a dvd recorder AFTER the switchbox.

Can we get the DVI port to a RCA so it will plug into the RCA port in the switchbox. The switchbox then feeds a dvd recorder. Money is an issue as this is for recording church services. We have a computer, VGA output goes to a projector. We have a video camera and the computer hooked to a contraption that will switch the projected image from computer to the camera signal. We record on an over the counter dvd recorder, we need to get a computer signal (dvi output on the back of the computer) to the rca input on the video switching box that we purchased. This device has an output to the DVD recorder and the projector. It has 3 inputs for RCA only one is used (by our camera) we would like to use one of the other ones for Computer output, to send to the recorder if we choose instead of the camera signal. This is done live, editing later is not an option.

As I said, you can get a converter, but at some expense.

For example (not a recommendation):

in conjunction with a DVI/HDMI adapter or cable.
