Hi all, would be grateful for any ideas

I have no desktop, taskbar, cntrl or function keys since yesterday
which means i can't
-access task manager using cntrl shortcuts
-access start menu (have also tried windows key)
-boot in safe mode with F8.

Anyone know any other ways i could try to do any of these things?

It may be relevant that i (stupidly, i know) ended some processes with task manager the last time i logged off..

compaq notebook, windows 7, IE

The fact that you ended processes with task manager should not be relevant on the next boot. HOWEVER, the reason you needed to do that may. WHY did you have to use task manager to shut down?
