Hi

Everytime I turn on my pc it attempts to logon to by internet service provider (Tiscali Broadband) I am concerned that my computer is attempting to access premium rate lines. This happened once before and so I put a block on them on my phone line. The fact that my computer is trying to logon worries me that it has some sort of virus?

I have attached a hijack this log...does this show anything suspect?

Thanks in advance for your help.

CHRIS

Hello cd-spencer and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. After reviewing your log I see no signs of viruses or malware at this time. The log is clean.

There are a couple ofcleanup items that we can remove so let's do that. Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = about:blank

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

The dialup attempt may simply be due to IE's configuration. Let's check that out also. From the IE menu click Tools->Internet Options. Click the Connections tab and verify that Never dial a connection is chosen and if not, select it and click the Apply button. If the above option is not the selected option then any application that wants internet access will attempt to dial a connection even if you have a broadband connection.

Other than that you should be good to go.

Cheers.
