Dell Inspiron 6000 won't start up

It's been on the shelf for a while now so I really have no idea why it does this. I think it's a possibilty that some malware did it because I always had problems on that computer. As soon as I press the power button, you can hear the computer start and the power light goes on but it immediately shuts off.

Is there anything I can do to boot it up?

If u have a second computer try to just get the HDD started in a different PC that will tell you if it is a hardware issue or not
