I'm sure this topic is in the wrong spot...however...if you don't ask...you won't know.

I'm sure you all are bored with System32 questions...but here it goes. I have done the 9 step plan to rectification save for the Ad-Ware-SE...it is being "mailed" to me.

Two Questions:
#1 Will the Adware SE resolve the System32 garbage?
#2 If your not tired of reading System32 Hijack Info...will you read this one and give me your opinion.

Lastly...thanks to the two gentlemen who repliede to my "Intro dated the 23rd of Jan. Regards-

AlanJS

Click here to download ewido anti-malware - it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido.
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. Then:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin (do not open any folders or open the windows control panel while the scan is in progress).
  • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido.

Rescan with HJT and post a new log here together with the ewido log so that any remnants can be removed manually.

Download Brute Force Uninstaller.
Unzip it to itís own folder (c:\BFU)

RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover. Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU)

Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe

In the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\EGDACCESS.bfu
Press execute and let it do itís job.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program. Post a new HJT log.

Daemon...the "Right Click Here" to download Edgeaccess Remover will not allow me to "Save As" for that function is not available. What am I missing?

Okay...I think I figured it out...I did a "File, save as" to get the Edgeaccess into the bfu unzipped folder. It "executed" VERY quickly. Hopefully it did what we were hoping it would do. Your effort is appreciated.

Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

Exit HijackThis when done. Reboot into Safe Mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded. Using Windows Explorer, find and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\sm_exe.exe

Exit Explorer and reboot into Normal Mode. Rescan with HijackThis and post a new log here.

Dameon was helping me on my orriginal "Topic"...but for a period of time...BC.com wouldn't "allow" me to post on my orriginal topic...even when I was LOGGED IN. I've been too busy to review this issue for some time. I have some time now and desire dialog on this issue again. From the last corrospondance Daemon asked be to do another HJT log...as requested...I've enclosed it below...hopefully after all this typing...the topic will get "sent"

Hi alanjs,

I've reopened your original topic and merged your new one with it. Sorry for the mix up--not sure if you saw Daemon's last post or if you got caught during the forum software upgrade. But we want to stick to one thread for the same issue.

Daemon will get back with you when he is available.

Hello again. Let's have another go at removing the pests. Click here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the red 'Delete File' button (red circle with a white X) after pasting each one:

C:\Program Files\Rgdo\Bicx.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sm_exe.exe

Click 'Exit' when done. Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Hejcadu] C:\Program Files\Rgdo\Bicx.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winshost.exe]

Daemon,

I so badly want to give you good news...but I can't as of yet. Topic change...what's an acceptable donation range? Hope you don't work by the "reply"...Ha Ha...*throat clear*...that was a joke.

Anyway...I did the KillBox.exe and it responded to both files you requested to delete as...:The file does not seem to exist".

I did the HJT cleanup fix of the 11 files you suggested to delete and rebooted. The System 32 MONSTER at startup returned...d@mnit!!! I did a reboot and new HJT.Log. The files I deleted on the 1st Hijack delete were back on the 2nd HJT Log that I am re-resending you. I did not re-delete them for I feel that they will return. Below...as requested is the revised HJT Log.

Why cannot I find this file you have twice asked me to delete? (See one of your previous posts)
Cannot Find/Delete:
C:\WINDOWS\sm_exe.exe
C:\Program Files\Rgdo\Bicx.exe

HJT Log Below as requested: Feb 15th, 2006 Regards - alanjs
