Hey guys, getting tired of my Xp getting constantly infested with Viruses, it's a real bummer! Right now I have something which is crippling Avast (loads but doesn't work) and I can't get rid of using spybot or malwarebytes. I'm not all the computer literate and need help!!

Here is my hijackthis log. BTW, I had to rename the hijackthis.exe something else and run it off a SD card in order to get it to run! A (fake?) windows error runs with the hijackthis.exe named file.

EDIT: I apologize for posting this in the wrong place. Also, when I am restarting or shutting down my computer in the last few days, run32.dll wants to lag and lag and I have to tell it to force shut it down. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply, Catbite.

I removed the entries you recommended in Hijackthis. This has solved a number of problems on my system alone, including Google failing to load and certain flash-type things not functioning properly.

I downloaded the DDS program and ran it. Problem is, it locked up my system, progressively so, so that I could originally pull up task manager but that failed, then my mouse failed, and after an hour I just hardbooted.. I am curious if I should do this again. If I don't get a response in a few days (I know you guys are horribly overworked and you do a great job for all of us!) then I'll go ahead and do it again - it couldn't possibly make things worse.

Thank you so much!

To Enter Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY repeatedly,
  • this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode
  • Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard
  • go into your usual account
