I got a new GTX 560 Ti FPB yesterday to replace my gtx 470. I read online that to use SLI I would have to buy a second gtx 560 Ti or it won't work. But my friend (who recommended the 560 to me) who is a hardware specialist for a computer repair company told me that they are similar enough to work with SLI. Is this true, or should I just use the 470 as a dedicated physX card? Also the gtx 560 Ti is EVGA and the gtx 470 is PNY, if that matters.

Thanks,
Mike

No you cannot SLi 2 different cards. You can only SLi cards from the same model number.

Example:

You can SLi two GTX 580's Superclocked.

You cannot SLi a GTX 480 and a GTX 580 together.

So should I use it for physX or is the 470 too overkill for a dedicated physx card?

Id simply use it as a backup incase you need to send the 560 back or for testing.
