I use Microsoft Home XP version Win5.1 Servie Pack 1 on a HP Pavilion computer and internet explorer version 6. When I try to download software from sites I get a message that says this sites uses active X then I get a message saying internet explorer is closing - the error report says they don't know anything about this type of error and don't have any solutions. This started with I tried to download Norton Internet Security 2006, but it also happens on the microsoft site also. I read about what Active X is, but I cant figure out how to tell if I have it, need it, need to update it, dont have it etc... APpreciate any help you can give. :flowers:

To check to see if you have it installed, and what version:
Click Start.
Click Run, and type in: dxdiag

This will open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
Under the System tab, you will find what version you have at the bottom, under System Information.
