My pc running windows 7 ultimate 64 after downloading some updates restarted nw I can't even get into windows again I just keep getting the error failure configuring windows updates reverting changes. Don't turn off your computer which I left for almost a whole day without no difference and I can't even get into windows in safe mode

Have you tried last known good configuration? If that does not work and safemode wont work then you would need to boot the pc with the operating system installation dvd and restore the system with system restore.

Well my next thought then is to slave it into another system and backup your data and reload or restore from recovery partition or dvd or backup.
