Posted 05 October 2011 - 01:00 AM

While I was on Facebook today, a message popped up out of the blue that said I was infected with the Zeus Keylogger and to click here to buy the "only" way to remove it. When I tried to shut it down with tskmngr.exe it screamed that it was "infected" and refused to let me run the program. I also began getting fake email alerts every four minutes, a fake virus scan with the Zeus warning every seven minutes, and a fake BSOD and reboot every ten minutes (It happened so often I timed them, and the reboots always jumped back to where I left of instead of a usual reboot.). I also ended up with a program running in the task bar called "Security Guard 2012" that refused to let me shut it down. It also killed MBAM, SUPER ANTI-SPYWARE, and RKiller and it's various names (I tried them all...). When I try to run it, they all return an error that says: "Windows can't access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have even tried Safe Mode on all of them after fighting with it for two hours to get into Add/Remove Programs feature to uninstall / reinstall (and the whole time the pc is screaming "It's infected!!" at the top of it's lungs - lol.). I even resorted to going to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Taskmgr.exe since alt+ctrl+del didn't work. This program also created an icon on the desktop under the same name. When I right-clicked it and chose "Properties" it directed me to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\g44ppmH5sWJdE8g.exe. I navigated here and renamed the program using some crude language that I'd rather not repeat here and rebooted thinking that would lock up the virus and allow me to run MBAM, SAS, anything. When it rebooted, I was back to square one, with all the pop ups and warnings and the program had reinstalled itself under the name "Open Cloud AV." It even used the SAME icon as "Security Guard 2012." So I right-clicked this icon, chose "Properties" and navigated here: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\svhost.exe. I renamed it again with the same crude language (since I'm pretty frustrated by now) and rebooted again. I have managed to sorta rein my pc back in since I am no longer getting the "YOU ARE INFECTED!" message and all of my shortcuts like regedit, msconfig, taskmgr, add/remove programs work without any hassle, but whenever I use Google or Yahoo! Search it just goes nuts with redirects. I can type in something about panda's and get ads wanting me to buy viagra (actual result! I did it as a test.) Also, any kind of antivirus except their's is a bust because it kills it within 20 seconds of the scan and changes the permissions. I also stopped these from running on start up via MSCONFIG: 1)ALCMTR.EXE 2)g44ppmH5sWJdE8g 3)svhost (same file path as the icon) 4)and a blank entry with no description or command line. I know I'm dealing with a nasty rootkit here but now I'm stumped since Sophos Anti-Rootkit came up clean ( I went through all 175 entries and checked each one. It didn't recommend I remove anything.). I am also getting a crazy amount of errors from Java now. I included a couple of the logs if it helps. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
