My husband needs a laptop for work - he will be using Office '07 and of course will be doing some light networking and web-browsing. He does not play games. I found this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230092

I have an ASUS desktop which has been a workhorse for over 5 years and is still going strong, but I've never owned and ASUS laptop. Do you think this could do the job, and has anyone had a problem with ASUS laptops?

PS - I have heard a lot of bad things about their bloatware which I will be removing if we purchase this.

Yes, this Asus laptop can do the job easily. Asus comes up as the number 1 most reliable laptop and i've had people buy Asus laptops and are happy with it. Bloatware is pretty common for nearly all laptops, it just takes time to remove them.

I bought the same ASUS laptop this past weekend for $329 from Newegg for one of my grandsons. Looks
like you just missed it.
