I have a PC with Windows XP Home. I create CAD (computer aided drafting) drawings using DataCad software. I'm not at the office at the moment but I believe the suffix is ".aec" I know how to send my DataCad drawings to the engineer's office, who uses AutoCad. In other words, I have to export my DataCad drawing by converting it to a ".dwg file. First, I Save my DataCad drawing to My Documents. Then I click Export, and there the commands allow me to choose to send it as a .dwg file. I could not find a selection of ".pdf" Some friends mentioned I have to log onto to the drawing, Click File (upper left), then Print, then in the Select Printer box choose "pdf". I don't see this anywhere. I even experimented with trying to convert a Word text file to pdf. No success. Do I have to purchase a special software to accomplish this conversion of any particular file (ie, .doc, .dwg, .aec, .jpeg, ...) to PDF?

Try the third entry in the How To... section here:

http://www.datacad.com/support/bulletin/HTML/DataCAD_QA.htm

"Q. How do I save a PDF file from DataCAD?
The Save As .pdf option is located in the Plot Preview......"

Hope it helps.
