trying to install IE9

I am trying to install Internet Explorer 9. I can download the file but when I begin the installation it won't finish because another version of Internet Explorer is already installed on the computer. I cannot find Internet Explorer in the "uninstall program" menu. How can I get rid of the old version if I can't find it?
