Hi there. I have a major problem; this virus/worm is taking over administrator rights posing as SYSTEM, CURRENT USER, ADMINISTRATORS, and it's hiding in temp folders changing its name, running the crap out of my task manager with 60 different processes, and changing everything in my registry (See attachments for task manager screen shot).

This thing has taken out 3 computers (running AVG 2011) of mine and it seems to be spreading and following me through my cyber footprint SOMEHOW even though I've changed e-mail addresses like 10 times and tried to keep them isolated from anything else of mine. One of the 3 computers was brand new, and I made my internet company send me a new router but this worm got me again anyway...I also have a virus on my Android (Samsung Transform, Froyo 2.2.2) and I'm pretty sure they have to be related, but that's another thread...

Anyway I've run so many things on this...Malwarebytes, Norton (free from my ISP), McAfee, GMER, HijackThis, Spybot Search and Destroy, Microsoft Malicious Software Remover, Trend SYSCLEAN and RootKitBlaster, and even tried to wipe my hard drives with some different things (DBAN was the strongest but it didn't boot =( and now I'm not sure I want to try that again before posting here). I've reset to factory settings 4 times on this computer (Dell Inspiron Mini running Windows 7 Starter).

I just want this thing gone! Please help...here's a log from the RootKitBlaster I ran since resetting the computer.

Thank you if you can help.

Thanks to the guidance of Orange Blossom, I have the correct logs for you. Please, please help me if you can...

This thing creeped in and took over everything, first under my user name in a temp folder I couldn't erase, then it spread and became difficult to see as it took names of .exe files and startup processes. It opened accounts and privileges under the names SYSTEM, Administrator, Administrators, Current User, User, %TEMP%, and things like that. It changed registry keys fast, it's running an average of 60 processes at a time on my task manager, and it was detected by Malwarebytes, Spybot, and Trend SysClean and RootKitBuster but then it became immune to them after about 4 or 5 passes. I was running AVG when it first appeared, now Norton and McAfee (I've reset to factory settings 4 times; Norton I get a free download from my ISP but it takes forever so last 2 days just activated McAfee that came with the system. Now it's repeating lines of code, hundreds and hundreds I see when I reboot, usually with something ZW in the front or back. I titled my post according to the closest description I could find that matched these symptoms.

This is my new laptop by the way, I still have 2 others that are bricked by now =( so your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks for whatever help you can give.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

To help Bleeping Computer better assist you please perform the following steps:

***************************************************

Posted Image In order to continue receiving help at BleepingComputer.com, YOU MUST tell me if you still need help or if your issue has already been resolved on your own or through another resource! To tell me this, please click on the following link and follow the instructions there.

If you no longer need help, then all you needed to do was the previous instructions of telling me so. You can skip the rest of this post. If you do need help please continue with Step 2 below.

***************************************************

Posted Image If you still need help, I would like you to post a Reply to this topic (click the "Add Reply" button in the lower right hand of this page). In that reply, please include the following information:

  • If you have not done so already, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  • A new DDS and GMER log. For your convenience, you will find the instructions for generating these logs repeated at the bottom of this post.
    • Please do this even if you have previously posted logs for us.
    • If you were unable to produce the logs originally please try once more.
    • If you are unable to create a log please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

Thank you for your patience, and again sorry for the delay.

***************************************************

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!
