OK, so I downloaded a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file from my Yahoo! mail account. I opted to open the file, as opposed to saving it to my hard drive. I worked on the file for a long time, saving it many times. The problem is that I never clicked "Save As...", I just clicked the disk icon to Save.

Now, I cannot find the file. Where did I save it?

Please HELP as I have put over 5 hours into the project, and I don't want to start over.

Did you try doing a search of Windows for *.xlsx files? If you don't locate it using that search item, try adding "When was it modified" for the date you were "saving" it.

I searched the entire C: drive (included hidden, non indexed, system files) for *.xlsx, *.xls*, searched for files modified on 9/30, searched for temp files and folders. This file has GOT to be on this computer, but I cannot find it. Arrrgggghhh.

Have you tried downloading the file again, hit save, and then note the location that it shows?

Yes, I downloaded it, again. I chose "open", again. It showed that it was opening from a "temporary folder". Once opened, I hit the "save" icon, again, and then tried to find the new file. No luck. How can it just be gone?

I just tried an excel spreadsheet, opened it, hit save w/o designating where...Went back to Excel, and found it saved there...

Thanks for all of the help. File is just not there. I'm not sure what happened to it, but it is gone. I am giving up and already working on it, again.

Thanks, again, I really appreciate your help.
