button that brings desktop

I got a new laptop which has windows 7 installed. on my old laptop which had vista, there was a button at the bottom left, which immediately brought the desktop screen. it closed all internet windows, word excel documents immediately and it brought up the desktop screen. how can i make that button visible ?

Its now located in the bottom right corner by the clock. Its that bar looking thing.

its already beens said, its the button that is right next the clock and date in the taskbar. When you hover your mouse cursor over it, it will be labled as "Show Desktop"
