Hello BC,

I'm posting today with a problem that I believe might be a very easy fix. This PC's WIFI Connection is constantly slowing down or disconnecting. This problem didn't arise until about two days ago when COMCAST did service work on the cable connections in my area.

The problem will arise, and I will go and flush my DNS with MiniToolBox and then my Net will be back to blazing speed, but I have to do this step fairly frequently.

I've also scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and GMER. I finally reformatted my PC because I planned to anyhow and I figured it might solve my issue, but it did not. Now I just have a fresh hard drive ;)

I've searched these forums for other topics similar and I've done several of the things recommended such as:

SecurityCheckand everything came out fine.
GMER[b] and everything was fine.

So now my question is do I need to setup a Static IP and DNS for my router? Or is there another fix to this problem?

Thanks,
Reid

The first thing I would do is be on the phone to Comcast. They may have fixed a video problem and caused a Internet problem. Check with any neighbors using the Comcast Internet.
Everything was fine until they fixed(??) the wiring.
I do not see why you think it is a problem where your computer is.

However try hooking up direct to the modem, no router and do some speed tests and see how the connection works that way. You may (will) have o reboot the modem so it can find your PC and after testing so it can find your Router.

Direct wire takes the Router out of the equation.

If it is a Comcast issue and calling doesn't get you anywhere, I suggest you post in the Comcast Help Forums. If nothing else, your issue can be escalated to the forum administrator who can set the wheels in motion for a resolution.

Those Forums are provided to Comcast customers, and are a great resource for vendor specific issues. There are Forums for computer issues, email issues, security, internet, cable tv, CDV, billing, and customer service.
Many times we, the users there, can provide answers tech support and customer service can't.

Click the link below. The forum landing page will open. Click Sign In. Log in with your Comcast user ID (the part before .net) and your password. You will next see a first time forum users page, asking you to choose a screen name for use in the Forums. Once you set that up, you'll be taken back to the landing page. PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR Comcast EMAIL NAME FOR YOUR forum USER NAME.

http://forums.comcast.com/

Before posting, take a moment to read the posting guidelines. The link is on the top right hand side of the page.

Then choose the appropriate board to post in.

(Once you get to the forum, save the page to your favorites. If you want to get to it from the Comcast home page, you have to jump through hoops to reach it)
