So I'm running on vista and usually use firefox but for the last few weeks there's been an intermittent problem which seems now to have become a permanent (and madenning) one. Basically, speakers are fine, but audio does not work in the browser. Turns out the problem isn't restricted to firefox, either. All accessible volume controls are cranked up. I don't think this is an absent plugin issue - and the weird part is that the internet browser doesn't appear in my volume mixer. It's just not there!

Very mysterious - is the laptop haunted, d'you reckon, or is there a rational explanation for this witchery?

Many thanks in advance :)
