Hi,

I am running a Windows XP SP3 Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6700 and these bsods are bothering me.

I tried to run an AVG 2012 Virus Scan but I got blue screened before it could completely scan the computer.

What else can I do?

Hi -Goo and :welcome: to BC,

Download BlueScreenView (in Zip file)

No installation required.

Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.

When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.

Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.
regards, ratman

Hello -Goo

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.
-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in safe mode.
-- If GMER crashes or keeps resulting in a BSODs, uncheck Devices on the right side before scanning
.

In your next reply, please copy/paste the contents of the following:
  • gmer.log

Ok, so I scanned with gmer which gave me a bsod, so I rebooted to safe mode and tried it again but another bsod appeared. I was about to reboot again to safe mode but now I can't login as admin. I get an error "The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively."

If you guys reply, I will get the notification on my phone as I cannot logon.

Are you logging on over a network?

Reboot your machine. Instead of booting in Safe mode try booting with Last Known Good Configuration.

Leave GMER aside for now.

Hello Ratman!

I have a similar problem, so would be very thankful if you could help me.

Below are my system info, BlueScreenView and RootRepeal logs.

Dump files say that two drivers are causing bsod's - epfwtdi.sys and tcpip.sys.

I ran RootRepeal two times - first time it said that SSDT and ShadowSSDT tables are hooked by ehdrv.sys (located in System32/Drivers), which I deleted in safe mode (I previously backed it up).
When restarted computer in normal mode, got bsod right after welcome screen - cause was epfwtdi.sys and message "KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED".
Then I ran RootRepeal second time - both logs are provided.

System info
BlueScreenView log
First RootRepeal log
Second RootRepeal log

Thanks in forward.

Hi Serbicon,

Could I ask you to please start a new topic in this forum providing as much information about your problem as possible.

Each topic is for one user only as solutions are generally tailored to that user's problems.

Having more then one user in a topic could cause misunderstandings which could render a user's machine inoperable.
regards, ratman
