It seems as if I've been hit at once by 2 different things. Not sure how it happened but it first started with the random redirecting which was blocked mostly by AVG, then after a few days all of a sudden Open Cloud Security hit me. After I used MBAM or CCleaner, I don't remember which one to try to stop the redirect, upon restarting Open Cloud appeared. It applies to both Firefox and Internet Explorer, not one by the way. I've looked up many different ways as to how to fix this but so far nothing, so I'm here.

I have did the whole ipconfig/flushdns thing and that seems to stop the redirect temporarily until I restart and it's back at it. As for the Open Cloud Security rogueware - MBAM and CCleaner always detect things, but after clearing it all out and rebooting in non-safe mode, it always comes back.

Hopefully someone can help me. I see many people have this redirect problem, but I seem to have gotten screwed further with this Open Cloud thing on top of it all.

Welcome aboard Posted Image

Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop.

* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

=============================================================================

Please download MiniToolBox and run it.

Checkmark following boxes:
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size
Click Go and post the result.

=============================================================================

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (aka MBAM): https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/malwarebytes-anti-malware/ to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

None of these things detected anything and it appears as if it's gone, but whenever I restart my computer, it all shows up again. I can post the logs after I restart if you wish, but right now this is what it looks like:

Also, when I run the MiniToolBox this warning or whatever you want to call it shows up. It is headed by: "nslookup-exe - ordinal not found" and the message says: "the ordinal 1108 could not be located in the dynamic link library WSOCK32.dll."

Not sure if that matters but just saying.

That's fine. I just needed to know.

You seem to have "hosts" file missing.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

64-bit users go HERE
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Vista\Win 7 users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
  • Copy the content of the following box into the main textfield:
    :dir
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Then, re-run MiniToolbox.

Checkmark following boxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
Click Go and post the result.

Restart computer.

Re-run MiniToolbox again.

Checkmark following boxes:
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
Click Go and post the result.

You downloaded wrong version. Go back to my instructions and download 64-bit version.

Then, we have to restore your "hosts" file.

Open Notepad.
Paste the following text into it:

# Copyright 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handle within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Go File>Save As and...

1. Name the file hosts. (no extension; make sure there is just a "dot" at the end <--- VERY IMPORTANT!)
2. Make sure, "Save as type:" is set to "All Files (*.*)
3. File is saved to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC folder

When I used the Temp File Cleaner it had me reboot at the end. So I did and it rebooted into normal mode and as soon as it loaded it immediately blue screened for like 5 or 10 seconds until going black and restarting again. I read something about crashing and dumping and a percentage moving up until it completed. When it restarted I put it into safe mode and when going to that site for the ESET virus scanner I got another one of those pop-ups/redirects :( I'm scanning my computer now.
