Hi dewlover80,

You have the lop adware infection.

Download and install the trial version of Ewido Security Suite.
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
- Launch Ewido by double-clicking the desktop icon.
- You may get a message that the database could not be found. This is normal-- click the OK button.
- The program will now go to the main screen.
- On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
- Click on Start update.
- The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed close Ewido.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Don't scan with it just yet.

Scan again with HijackThis 1.99.1. Put a checkmark by the following entries, double-checking to be sure that only these entries are checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [spamhopeliveup] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\fourmultispamhope\manager link.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [plan data] C:\DOCUME~1\LESLIE~1\APPLIC~1\NEWSIT~1\Tray flag.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.listen.com
<--never put sites like these in your trusted zone.

Close all other windows--you should only see HijackThis on your Desktop--and then click the "Fix checked" button.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

Using My Computer/Windows Explorer navigate to and delete the following folders in bold:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\fourmultispamhope
C:\Documents and Settings\LESLIE~1\Application Data\NEWSIT~1 <--Windows abbreviates long file names. The name of this folder begins with NEWSIT and will contain the file Tray flag.exe.

Click on the Start button & select Run.
Type in tasks & click OK.
In the ensuing window, click on the Advanced menu (located above) & select View Hidden Tasks.

Look for any jobs that you did not create yourself or by one of your programs such as an antivirus. Any that consist of 16 random upper case letters and numbers. Examples of what they will look like are below, altho they probably won't have the .job extension:

A034B7FF91BB36BB.job
A06F1FEF91A49933.job
A2C3205A93B8CDFA.job
A36F645091B91BF0.job
A42C6F7190EFE559.job

Right click on any found and select Delete.

[*]Open ewido and click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite and reboot back into normal mode.

Download fl.zip.
Extract the contents to a new folder on your Desktop. NOTE: It must be unzipped to work properly.
Within the folder, locate & double-click fl.bat.
It should produce a report at c:\findlop.txt. Post the contents of the report in your next reply.

Scan again with HijackThis and post another log.

The fate of all mankind, I see

Is in the hands of fools

OK, LOP is gone. Good job. How's it running now?

Can I see the ewido log please?

Just so you know, I do not use Internet Explorer, LimeWire, Warez, or Aries any more.

That's good, altho you can use IE when you get your Windows updates. LimeWire would be OK if you had the latest version. I do see that you may have Bearshare installed. If it's the free version you may want to uninstall it. If you haven't seen it already, here is a list for which P2P to look out for:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/

Even with a "clean" P2P app, many of the files that are shared are infected so you have to be extra careful if you're going to share files.

I can't find much info on this: Bearshare Accelerator. Did you download this yourself and if so can you tell me a little about it? It would help us for when we run into it again. And a link to where it was downloaded from would be nice.
