Computer/Mouse freezes up

Windows XP Professional SP3
Lenovo T60p
Microsoft Essentials

Mouse hardware is just the built in touchpad no external mouse attached.

Happens even if I have one app open. Vary random, I will be reading a webpage then move the mouse and it locks. Can't do cntrl-alt-del either.

Recently had a virus, cleaned up that problem. This appeared shortly after.

I would try uninstalling the touchpad drivers (via Device Manager), then rebooting...the drivers should reinstall automatically.

Re-installation or upgrading it driver.
