I need to start up in diagnostic mode but to change this in msconfig it tells me I need to be signed in as the administrator. When I go to switch users my profile is the only one that shows up, administrator is not even a option.
When I log on in safe mode it does give me the option to sign in as administrator but it asks for a password and I have no idea what that might be.

The whole reason I need to start up in diagnostic mode is to try to fix an issue I am having with a game I want to install. I was told that if I install the game in diagnostic mode and then try to play it in regular mode it may work.

Any more info you need please ask.

Thanks

I am running XP professional. When I hit enter while it is blank it says invalid password.
How do I get the administrator option to show up when I boot my computer in regular mode.
Thanks

Ok I figured out my password for administrator, now how do I get the administrator option to show up when I boot my PC normally. It only shows up when I boot in safe mode.

Download TweakUI. In there, under Logon I believe is an option to show administrator on the welcome screen.

If you want to do it manually follow the steps here: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/1165/
