So I just got a Lenovo x220 and it had been working fine until this afternoon. The wireless connection is now slower than dialup- using the speedtest on speakeasy.net I am getting around .10 mbps down. I have my old laptop here and it gets 12 mbps in comparison.

The x factor(and probably the cause) here is that I have Virtual Box installed and set up a virtual machine today. I had trouble getting the virtual machine to see an adapter or get online so a mod on their forum told me to bridge my adapter and choose an Intel adapter in the advanced settings. That worked as far as getting me online in the guest OS but the connection in both the guest and host OS is slow as molasses.

So I've tried to undo what I did and I've also disabled the Virtual Box adapter in the host OS to no avail. I'm not sure what to do now. The OS I am running is Windows 7 Pro.

Thanks for any and all help!

Can you go to http://www.speedtest.net and do some tests and see what you get. Post the links to the images and do like 3 to 4.

It's so slow it won't even load the map/test in the middle of the page- says configuration load failed. Something is really killing my wireless on this PC.

On my other laptop, I'm averaging around 13.5 Mbps using wireless.

On the Properties page for the wireless connection that is not functioning please uncheck the following:

IPv6
and the last 2

Leave all items checked and then see if its slower.

Finally got a speedtest to work:

Tried that- unchecked IPv6 and Link Layer Discover Responder and Mapper- and it stayed the same. No difference.

round trip times
minimum= 32ms, max= 2066ms, average= 95ms

old laptop:

minimum= 41ms, max= 148ms, average= 48ms

Try and power cycle the router by unplugging it and leaving it it that way for like 2 minutes and during this every piece of networking equipment should be off including computers. then power on the router and then power on each device.

If the wireless is slow, then can you try it wired?

Well, it ended up being the router. I have another identical router(Linksys wrt54g) that was not flashed with DD-WRT and plugged it in and the speeds are what they should be. I have no clue why it was only affecting this one laptop. The only thing I can think of is this is a new N NIC and maybe the G devices still worked fine.

Now I would still like to figure out what the issue is with the router but I have no clue where to begin troubleshooting that.

Thanks for the responses.
