I have an hp s3521p desktop. The problem I'm having is that I'm unable to run the manufactures (HP's) diagnostic program installed on the pc because, when I bring it up from the programs meneu and open it all I see is what looks like lines of computer code. This happens on all the diagnostic /repair pages.. restarting does help, running my after market system mechanics progrm does work either.. need help with this one. this is on a vista OS

^ Ok, looks like a file association issue with .EXE files at first glance.

Could you please try the fix below?
http://www.winhelponline.com/fileasso/exefix_vista.zip

It's in a .zip file, so you need to extract the .reg from it using Winzip/Winrar/7zip and double-click the registry file. Do that, reboot your computer, try the HP program again and post back.

Good luck.

Dowmloaded it and ran it.. Didnt seen like it did anything, all I got was a page with the same type jibberish...doing the .reg thing- and trying to change the zip files is over my head.. I'll need to get someone with more knowledge than me...
