Link to original thread -> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic417933.html

About a week ago while irresponsibly surfing a porn torrent site, all my windows disappeared and some bs microsoft antivirus window popped up. Every malware program I've thrown at it simply fails to find it, and then the virus seems to embed itself in that program. First McAfee, then MBAM, avast, Kapersky IS 2011, TDSSkiller, RootRepeal, Rootkit Revealer, catchme.exe, GMER, MBR... you name it, I tried it. I looked through the registry and there's evidence of it everywhere--couple new users here, some group policies there. I also used process explorer to look through explorer.exe and winlogon.exe and they've got it bad. It looks like it's gotten into every startup program I have. Also a defender.exe showed up on my desktop but I think I managed to get rid of it. I'm at my wit's end here. I forgot to mention in my last thread that I've been getting Google redirects for quite some time now. I never did anything about it because I'm lazy and just clicked on the cached page every time. I'm running Windows XP Professional with SP3. I want to say thank you ahead of time, you guys provide a great service! :)

    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

Thank you for your patience, and again sorry for the delay.

***************************************************

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Why we request you disable CD Emulation when receiving Malware Removal Advice

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:

How to create a GMER log

As I am just a silly little program running on the BleepingComputer.com servers, please do not send me private messages as I do not know how to read and reply to them! Thanks!

Do not have Windows DVD available, it's at home with my dad which is 2 hours away. I also haven't touched my laptop since my original post so I don't know how different these logs will be.

New DDS log:

I never actually allowed combofix to fully run, it was in the process of scanning when I read that we're not supposed to run it unless instructed to. It identified the zeroaccess rootkit, said it needed to remove such and such at reboot, and when my pc rebooted I closed combofix the second it started up. My Qoobox folder has a catchme log in it, but nothing else. Just a couple of folders.

Hi

Please do the following:

submit a file to virustotal for analysis
  • Use the browse button on that page to navigate to the location of the file to be scanned.
  • In the right hand panel,
  • click on the file c:\windows\system32\Drivers\PsSdk30.drv
  • then click the open button.
  • The file will now be displayed in the submit box.
  • Scroll down a bit and click "send file", wait for the results
  • If you get a message saying File has already been analyzed: click Reanalyze file now
  • Once scanned, copy and paste the link to the results page in your next reply.

NEXT

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.
  • They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Copy/paste the text inside the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Copy all the text inside of the code box - Press Ctrl+C (or right click on the highlighted section and choose 'copy')

SecCenter::
AV: Webroot SecureAnywhere *Enabled/Updated* {D486329C-1488-4CEB-9CC8-D662B732D904}

DirLook::
C:\3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06ZZZ..Z.....ZZZZZ

Driver::
lwyytezr
BAWGBURDQ
MADNCNRUUMD

Now paste the copied text into the open notepad - press CTRL+V (or right click and choose 'paste')

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:

1.Click File;
2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save ...

Posted Image
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix may request an update; please allow it.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

The pssdk30.drv file doesn't exist anywhere in the drivers folder, I can't see it.

Hi,

Please do the following:
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.
  • They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
Copy/paste the text inside the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Copy all the text inside of the code box - Press Ctrl+C (or right click on the highlighted section and choose 'copy')

Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\services]
"MADNCNRUUMD"=-
"BAWGBURDQ"=-

Now paste the copied text into the open notepad - press CTRL+V (or right click and choose 'paste')

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:

1.Click File;
2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save ...

Posted Image

  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.

NEXT

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- very important
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

NEXT

Go here to run an online scanner from ESET.
  • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
  • Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activeX control to install
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked and the Scan Archives option is ticked.
  • Click on Advanced Settings, ensure the options Scan for potentially unwanted applications, Scan for potentially unsafe applications, and Enable Anti-Stealth Technology are ticked.
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • When the scan completes, press the LIST OF THREATS FOUND button
  • Press EXPORT TO TEXT FILE , name the file ESETSCAN and save it to your desktop
  • Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Press the BACK button.
  • Press Finish

File::
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\Bredolabfb.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\CNwAQdN.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\CoolWWWSearchLeftovers1.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\CoolWWWSearchLeftovers4.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\FraudAntiMalwares.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\KillSec.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\WinAgentieu.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\WinAgentieu2.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\WinAgentws.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Perfect.Uninstaller.6.3.3.9.Datecode.11.04.2011.Software.Serial.Key.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\PerfectUninstaller_Setup(welcomeu).exe
C:\Program Files\Perfect Uninstaller\PU.exe

Folder::
C:\3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06ZZZ..Z.....ZZZZZ

Rootkit::
C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB2859$\3563707567

ClearJavaCache::

Now paste the copied text into the open notepad - press CTRL+V (or right click and choose 'paste')

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:

1.Click File;
2.Click Save As... Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 and save it to your desktop.
  • Scroll down to where it says JDK 7 (JDK or JRE)
  • Click the Download JDK button tunderneath
  • Select the Windows platform from the dropdown menu.
  • Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for Java SE ". Click on Continue. The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add or Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE or Java™ 6) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-7-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.
  • After the install is complete, go into the Control Panel (using Classic View) and double-click the Java Icon. (looks like a coffee cup)
    • On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, click the Settings button.
    • Next, click on the Delete Files button
    • There are two options in the window to clear the cache - Leave BOTH Checked
      Applications and Applets
      Trace and Log Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
    Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Temporary Files Window
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

P2P - I see you have P2P software utorrent and ares installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It likely contributed to your current situation. This page will give you further information.
Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
Please see this topic for more information:
Perils of P2P File Sharing.
I would strongly recommend that you uninstall these now. You can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

Please advise how your computer is running now and if there are any outstanding issues

The google redirects seem to be totally gone. However, my pc is still very very sluggish. No smooth mouse movements, audio/video is very choppy and staticy. While typing this, the display is having a very hard time keeping up with my keypresses. I type about 5 words, wait a few seconds, and they rapidly appear. My system also hangs at the "Logging off" screen for a solid 7 minutes before shutting down. Seems like there's still quite a bit of activity going on in the background.

Please try the following:

Press the WinKey + R to open a run box > copy/paste devmgmt.msc into the open run box > press OK > Device Manager will open.Expand all the trees and let me know if there are any warning exclamation marks beside any of the entries.

NEXT

  • Click Start, click Run, type cmd.exe, and then click OK.
  • At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow, and then press ENTER.
    Note This command may take several minutes to finish. You may be prompted to provide Windows installation source files when you run the sfc /scannow command.
  • At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to close the command prompt.

NEXT

Download TFC to your desktop
Mirror
  • Close any open windows.
  • Double click the TFC icon to run the program
  • TFC will close all open programs itself in order to run,
  • Click the Start button to begin the process.
  • Allow TFC to run uninterrupted.
  • The program should not take long to finish it's job
  • Once its finished it should automatically reboot your machine,
  • if it doesn't, manually reboot to ensure a complete clean
It's normal after running TFC cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Then,

  • Open My Computer.
  • Right-click the local disk volume that you want to defragment (usually your C:\ drive) > then click Properties.
  • On the Tools tab > click Defragment Now.
  • Click Defragment.

Let me know if there is any difference
