I have a Dell Printer 926 for 3 years now with no problems, using it with two OS (Xp and 7)

I tried to put an SD card into the slot reader (it has card reader bulit into it)

I normally use this is card in my digtal camrea, and just use it with a USB cable. Works just fine that way.

So, i have not used the SD card slot at all with Windows 7, up until now. I was using this printer with Windows Xp, until i upgraded to Windows 7.
Since i have installed Windows 7, i have not used it.

The printer works fine for everything else.

Any suggestions to try?

A quick thing to try is to spritz it out with a little compressed air to make sure it isn't dirty.
In the beginning there was the command line.

Is it an SDHC card? If so, the 926 doesn't support SDHC.

I am not sure, i am looking at the card right now, it just lists "SD", so my guess is that is just SD.

What does SDHC stand for?

SDHC is High Capacity SD (4GB up), so if yours is 2GB that isn't going to be the problem. Keep it in mind for the future though, if you continue using the printer.

I also gave it a try on my laptop, which has an SD card reader as well. It works no problem.

The card worked under Windows Xp, using the same printer. Could it be the driver for Windows 7 version does not include this?

It's a possibility, although it would seem strange. Since a process of elimination is what it comes down to for proving the cause, if there's any way to try the printer on an XP system that would help to show you if the printer is simply not reading the card, or if it works correctly away from your Win7 system.
