Hi all,

I booted up my computer this evening to be greeted by odd display patterns, which persisted from the initial "Acer" screen throughout. The computer would then freeze during the loading of Windows (after the loading screen and before the login screen). However, once in a while (I restarted a dozen times) the machine would seemingly load properly and then freeze 2-3 minutes after Windows loaded, again with the aforementioned display patterns. Other times it would blue screen / memory dump and restart itself. The computer has had no prior issues.

I have included a link to several photos I took of the screen:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/67573799@N06/with/6148741077/

Here are the computer specs:

Brand: Acer
Model: AM5621-EQ9300A
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300(2.5GHz)
Memory: 8GB DDR2
Hard Drive: 1280GB (2 x 640GB) SATA
Optical Drive: Super-Multi drive (DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB dedicated VRAM
Operating Systems: Windows 7 Professional 64 / Windows Vista Home Premium 64
Chipset: Intel G33

Many thanks for any help with this!

Josh

1) What happens in safe mode?

2) Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

Thanks for the initial advice, Allan. With regard to Safe Mode, the symptoms are exactly the same.

Below are the BlueScreenView results:

If it happens in safe mode I'm guessing it's a bad video card. It's certainly hardware and in one way or another the display adapter is involved, so if I were you I'd replace the video card and let's see if that does it. Just to be safe, be sure to purchase the card from a retailer who will accept a return.
